How would a physician Know where to volunteer?

Asking for a few General Practioners I know are trying to see if it would be possible for them to leave here and help out down there..

How would they find out where they would be needed the most?

Sorry if Im posting this in the wrong forum but I dont know who else to ask..

Any suggestions?

Thank you

Hi IslandGrll:

Try this link:

my.webmd.com/content/pages/23/109928.htm

If it doesn’t work, just go to www.webmd.com and there is a notice right on that page that they’re calling for help from physicians. If you click on that it has more specific information and links. I’m sure they’d be most grateful for any help. I also saw that they need help in Houston to triage the incoming evacuees.

Good luck and God bless.

Thanks for that info, unfortunately that website won’t take volunteers for any shorter then 14 days.

I know these 2 physicians have families they have to be with and would never be able to be away for that long.

I hope we can find a place that they could help out in for a few days.. maybe 4 or 5 at the most.

I will keep searching.

THanks agian.

Perhaps the American Medical Association could somehow team up with the Red Cross/Salvation Army as to shelters which are being created throughout the country that will need both short- and long-term medical help?

My brother-in-law is a physician in Dallas, TX, and I will email him and find out what I can…..

Most likely, though, the Red Cross could let you know where to begin….

Best wishes….
