In search of advice on volunteer opportunities.
This is not a travel advice request, so my apologies for that!
So case is I’ve just quit my corporate job in Denmark, and I am going to go to Alaska for atleast 2 months starting 1st of April. As I’ve always been a worker, I find myself in the position of wanting to do something while in the great state of Alaska for 2 months. Hence my request.
Does anyone know of a place within Alaska where I can volunteer and help working for free?
Of if there is any ”private” families out there who could use a positive, adventurous and overall cheerful guy in his mid twenties for some labor around their house or if they have a small business?
I’m coming to Alaska regardless, but a huge part of my travels is to integrate and to spent time with people from the local areas, to experience an authentic way of living in the given area.
Please do not hesitate the reply on this post, if anything comes to mind or if you know someone who would like some help and wants to make a friend for iife.
I appreciate any help.
Thanks a bunch guys.
Warm Regards From Denmark

I would look into this organization:
It’s not just for volunteering on organic farms. There are a number of lodge owners and other seasonal businesses, particularly in Homer, that get volunteers through this organization. Businesses like this may be able to take you beginning of April but I think you’d have better luck postponing your trip a bit. You do know April is still winter (end of winter) here?
If you have any interest in dog-mushing, mushers are ALWAYS looking for handlers, the name for folks who help in the dog-yards. You mainly would be scooping poop, but you’d probably get to run some teams and it’s a great experience in an interesting lifestyle. I would look at this website:
I believe there is a section on there for handler opportunities.
Good luck! You’re going to have a lot of fun!

Thank you so much for the great respond. It is really appreciated!
The second option especially, as I am not looking for an extended vacation but I am a hard worker, so I wouldn’t mind scopping pop etc. + I like must people have a huge love for dogs!
I am aware of the seasons there, case is I got to be back basically by no later then Mid-June as I am finishing up my University degree, and exams will take place.
Regardless, thanks a lot for posting and I’ll be sure to look into those links.

Are you planning on going on a Visa Waiver Program (ESTA)? If so I think you are allowed to do volunteerwork in the US but there are a lot of restrictions. I would check this first before planning further.
